Privacy Policy
Mihwar is built privacy-first. Your data lives on your device. There are no Mihwar servers, and we cannot see your reflections, habits, prayers, or anything else you record.
The short version
- We don't collect your personal data. Everything you create in Mihwar is stored in a database on your own device.
- The AI companion runs on your phone — your conversations are never sent to us or to any cloud AI service.
- No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no trackers, no third-party data SDKs.
- You can export or delete everything at any time.
What data Mihwar stores, and where
All content you enter — intentions, reflections, habits, prayer logs, plans, and journal entries — is stored locally in a database (SQLite) on your device. It is not transmitted to us. We operate no backend server that receives or stores your content.
The AI companion
Mihwar's companion and insights are generated by a language model that runs entirely on your device. Your prompts and the model's responses do not leave your phone and are never sent to Mihwar or to any external AI provider. The companion is a wellness aid, not a religious authority — it does not issue religious rulings or quote scripture, and it encourages you to consult a qualified scholar for such matters.
Network requests
Mihwar makes exactly two kinds of network request, and neither carries your personal content:
- AI model download (one-time). When you first set up the AI companion, the app downloads the language model file (about 1.7 GB) over an encrypted connection from Hugging Face's content delivery network. This is a plain file download — it sends no personal data beyond what any download involves (your IP address, handled transiently by the CDN). After the download, the AI runs fully offline.
- Prayer times. To calculate accurate prayer times, Mihwar can make an outbound request to the public Aladhan prayer-times API. This request includes the city/country you enter and your calculation preferences, sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Mihwar does not store this location on any server, does not link it to your identity, and does not use it for tracking or advertising. The request is governed by Aladhan's own terms and privacy practices.
Optional iCloud sync
If you choose to turn on iCloud sync (it is off by default), Mihwar uses your own private iCloud database to sync data between your Apple devices. This data is stored under your personal iCloud account and is managed by Apple; Mihwar has no server in this path and cannot access the synced data. Apple's protections apply, and the sync is end-to-end encrypted between your devices when you have Apple's Advanced Data Protection enabled. You can turn sync off at any time in the app.
Purchases
Mihwar Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Payments and subscription management are handled entirely by Apple. Mihwar does not receive your name, payment details, or any other personal information from the purchase. Purchase status is verified on your device.
Analytics, advertising, and tracking
None. Mihwar contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting service, and no third-party tracking of any kind. We do not build a profile of you and have nothing to sell.
Your control over your data
- Export: you can export your data to Markdown files at any time and choose where they go.
- Delete: deleting the app, or using the in-app reset, removes the local database from your device.
- iCloud: if you used sync, you can disable it and delete the associated data from your iCloud account.
Children
Mihwar is not directed at children under 13. Because we do not collect personal data, we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the revised version at this URL.
